Power failures can be fun!

Just a bit gusty today? Hey look at that, I'm understating something. I just learned aboot that in Uni. Hooray, I'm learning!

But seriously, people have died because of the wind. I'm not kidding. I think a pile of bricks fell on a woman (that's what I heard anyway). Also a scaffolding collapsed and a guy died (apparently). Not good.

Despite the wind (or should I say because of the wind), I'm in a rather happy mood. Twas a good day at uni. First my screen practices tutorial was fun (as usual) and I have a very good idea about what I'm going to do for my assessment thingy, in which I have to make a story board for a short film WITH NO CUTS! GASP, SHOCK AND HORROR! But I've got a good idea. So that's good. Introduction to Uni tutorial was boring, made slightly more interesting when the lights went out, but did make it clear on what exactly I have to do for my assessment task essay whatsit that's due next week which I haven't started yet. Oops. Meh, it's only 800 words. I could probably do all of it tonight if I felt like it. But Spicks and Specks is on. Oh well.

Here's where things get even better. My lecture for Screen Practices was cut short today because the power was off. While Mr Super Boring Lecture Man still gave the lecture, it only took about half an hour. Hooray! (He also revealed that he used to do some boring crappy radio thingy which would help explain in boring monotonous droning voice and why I hate him so much.) Keep in mind that this lecture is supposed to be for two hours, and it took only half an hour. He didn't get a chance to show any examples of what he was talking about.

Now if he takes half an hour to speak, and what I estimate as an hour to show stuff from various films or whatever, that leaves him a whole other half hour to suck at using the projectors and stuff in the lecture theater. He cannot use them to save his life. That is also why I hate him so.

So lecture cut short and I just miss the tram home. I wait a while at the tram stop, and in that time THREE TRAMS arrive and depart in the opposite direction. WTF? But once the tram DOES arrive, I almost can't get on the bloody thing because were so many damn people on it. I'm guessing that the wind may have delayed some public transport (not that it needs it. It can mess things up just fine without help from the weather). However I do JUST manage to get on. And since I was so close to the door it wasn't a problem getting off the tram :D . So I get off the tram and through a HUGE stroke of luck and good timing, Mr I-never-turn-up Bus ACTUALLY TURNED UP. Again, WTF? So I actually catch the bus and don't have to walk all the way home. It shaves aboot 10-15 minutes off getting home.

So by the time I'm home the slightly bad mood I was in this morning turned into a very good mood. And there were even an uprooted tree in the park next to my house, and branches everywhere.

Oh yeah, I got my tablet working with my new computer (it wasn't working before, I needed to install new drivers). So that's good. But I haven't tried hooking up my scanner yet. Busy with assignments and umm...other things too nerdy to mention. And I've got like a million assignments to do (hey look, hyperbole. I really am learning stuff at uni). Well that one due next week. But I want to get started on my Screen Practices one soon. So, I might see about hooking my scanner up on the weekend. Don't have any actual comics done, but I've got a few random sketches from boring lectures I'll put up because I feel bad I haven't done anything in aaaaaagggggeeeeeesssssss.

END POINTLESS RAMBLINGS!

New computer

BEGIN COMMUNICATION.

Hooray, I've finally got a new computer! Happiness for all :glomp: !

But seriously, yes I have a new computer. It's ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AWESOME. I loves it to bits. It's one of them new fangled iMacs, and so far it works like a dream. Although technically it's been refurbished, you can hardly notice.

I have to say that setting it up couldn't have been easier. Plug in the power and the internet and turn the sucker on. Simple as that. It takes you through a few set up steps, but once that's done, you're good to go. What's really amazing is that the iMac instantly connected to the internet AND the network in my house WITH NO PROBLEMS. It's a nice change from the pain and heartache that normally comes with setting up Microsoft computers.

So I've spent a good part of the day getting the hang of this thing, moving my music and pictures over from my old computer to this new one. Although in the end there wasn't all that much I really wanted to keep, like I said just my music and pictures. Kind of scary thinking about how much crap I had on my old computer. But now I get to amass a whole new bunch of crap. Yay~!!!

Sid comics probably won't be appearing any time soon (like I ever put them up regularly anyway) because I'm yet to install photoshop on my new computer. Probably will take some time, because the version I got is a student version and I think there are some needlessly complicated steps involved in installing it (must send away proof of being a student and stuff to get the registration keys to install the bloody thing). HOWEVER! I think I might be writing something in the very near future, because the keyboard that came with the iMac is so wonderful to type on, I need an excuse to keep typing on it.

That about sums it up really. Got an assignment to write for uni, but I've got this week off so I'll have plenty of time (but so far I've had a few distractions *stares intently at new computer* ). Otherwise I think I'll be trying out all the fancy features on this lovely new iMac.

END COMMUNICATION.

Oh SNAP! 2000 page views???

  • Reading: Heart of Darkness (for uni)
  • Watching: Torchwood
  • Playing: Mega Man
  • Eating: Mi Goreng noodles
What the heck? When did I get so many page views? 2000!?!?

But seriously, thanks a bunch for all the views, it's pretty awesome :D !

Well, uni's getting a bit busy now, so I don't think I'll have as much time to do stuff for deviantart. Been meaning to do another comic, but got slightly discouraged when I found I was having trouble drawing stuff, which is weird, because what I was drawing wasn't anything that complicated. Guess I was just having a bad day o.0

HOWEVER!!!

I will throw something together to celebrate the 2000 page views. I'll try to have something done by Monday, I swear. Maybe even a comic too? Let's hope so. Oh, and thanks again for the views :D :glomp: !!!

IN OTHER NEWS!!!

Can't really be bothered with other news. Uni is fun. I actually met a couple of not completely stupid and likely to drop out soon people in my tutorials, and I've got a couple of pretty awesome tutors. So it's all good. Still no job, but am a few steps closer to getting something. I could talk more, but I think playing Mega Man on the Wii would be far more entertaining. Still can't get very far in Dr Wily's fortress. THE MADMAN MUST BE STOPPED!!!

Professtional time waster (aka uni studnet)

Well, I've FINALLY started Uni. ABOUT BLOODY TIME! I am once again doing stuff, which is a plus. On the other hand, that means I also have to wake up early in the morning. I mean, I had to be up at 8am today and yesterday. It's an outrage!

...Yeah, it's actually not so bad. At least it's not something horrible like 7am (Yes, in all my time off, I have become very very VERY lazy :D ). I'm pretty lucky that Deakin isn't all that far from my house (a quick bus and tram ride, or just a tram ride if I can be bothered walking to the tram). I've had a few lectures so far, no tutorials yet (most of them start next week, I have one tomorrow). Unfortunately I missed my first lecture (literature) because I was stupid enough to drive to Deakin. PARKING IS A NIGHTMARE! But it's not a problem since the lectures are podcast. Now if only the podcasts would ACTUALLY WORK!!! (Seems they're having a number of technical issues with a podcasting a number of lectures, which sucks, but hopefully it'll be sorted out soon.)

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Hmm...it's been about a week since I've submitted something. I've started work on another comic but it isn't finished yet. I need to come up with a better layout if I want to do this comic (because otherwise it'd be pretty crappy). I've also been trying to doing some drawing from scratch with my tablet, but it's really pissing me off. I'm not very good at it. Watching the screen to make sure what I'm drawing is right as well as getting my hand to move in the right way to draw what I want without looking at it is COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE. I could really do with one of those tablets that have screens so you can see what you're drawing (darn you Whitney and your better tablet!).

Writing wise, it's been AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGES since I've written anything. I have a couple of ideas floating around which I like, but I just haven't felt like doing the actual writing part as of yet. Dear god I'm a lazy bastard.

Soooo....maybe a comic in the next few days? Good chance of that happening. Writing? Less likely any time soon.

Everything's coming up Milhouse!

Ha, but seriously, I don't like the newer episodes of The Simpsons. They just feel...repetitive. I watched a newish one last night and it was just...meh. Not that great.

ANYHOW!

I found out this morning that I GOT INTO GERMAN AT MONASH!!! So I'm feeling pretty good about things at the moment. Now all I have to do is enrol online at the Monash website :O_o: . WHY MUST THERE BE SO MANY FORMS AND THINGS??? Oh well. Once that's done all I have to do is take confirmation of my enrolment at Monash to Deakin, which I sincerely hope will not involve more form filling on my part.

IN OTHER NEWS!

Yeah, I haven't submitted anything in ages. Thing is, while I have some good ideas for writing stuff, I just haven't felt like writing. Eh. I've been bitten by the laziness bug, and it could be while before all of its venom is out of my system. Hmm...I did start doing that funny ol' Art Meme thingy a few days ago, but sort of stopped because I couldn't make it look nice. Then I remembered that I can't draw and I don't really know how to make it look pretty in photoshop, so what's the point in getting worked up over it? So chances are I'll have that up soon.

AND FINALLY!

I have nothing left to say.
